.Sweet November Review
Sweet November is a movie starring Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron. The story goes like this: He's a workaholic executive whose only intimate
relationship is with the bottom line...until he meets Sara. Intrigued by each other, but not quite ready to commit, they settle on a rather unconventional courtship: a one-month trial, after which they'll go
their separate ways. Obviously they fall in love......but oh no! she's sick with cancer. Hmm. Am I noticing a trend in such movies? Did they take the plot from some old Cantonese tearjerker
movie? Predictable is as predictable does, as Forrest Gump would say. I'll tell you the end of the story, just to save you the $7 bucks, $14, if you're attached. She wants him to remember her as
happy, beautiful, strong, healthy. So when her illness starts to creep up on her, she refuses to let him care for her, despite his sincere offer of marriage. The movie ends with her leaving him. Kinda sad
don't you think? I think such a movie doesn't do very much for couples in love. It's message seems to be, if you're sick, push your loved ones away. Love is a commitment. The marriage vows
specifically say," in sickness and in health" By romanticizing love, the movie may leave the wrong impression with young couples. Overall, it's not a bad movie. The two stars are very good actors,
but the plot is a little weak and predictable. It's still ok to watch, but I think it would be more worthwhile to rent the VCD when it comes out than to spend $14 bucks on it. Article Copyright Truekisses.com. |
