How To?

The Power of Words

These days, you can find witty slogans all. Companies seem to have cranked up their marketing team to come up with witty, catchy slogans to capture the hearts and minds of the millions of potential customers out there and the millions of potential dollars they could make from these customers. You can come up with catchy one-liners to romance your partner too. Although there are millions of potential candidates out there for your catchy one-liners, I would strongly advise against trying it on more than one person unless you want to get yourself tangled in some relationship mess. But that's another story.

The power of words cannot be undermined. Use them wisely and you can get whatever you want. There are so many examples of how the clever use of words can allow and influence others. Take the notorious OJ Simpson trial. The defending lawyer used the catchy term to the extend of "if it doesn't fit, you must acquit". The phrase was repeated over and over to the jurors and the media so much so that it must have subtly affected the public sentiments to raise some doubt in whether OJ was guilty. The point of this is, words when used in a catchy and meaningful way, can often be a powerful persuading tool.

So how do you use words to be more effective in your relationship? Certainly I am not advocating using words to influence and control your partner in the negative sense. Rather, use words and phrases to influence the positive side of your partner. Provide reinforcement to his or her good points. Reward him or her with verbal praises together with non-verbal ones. You will find that both of them work just as well. There are many non-verbal ways you can encourage positive actions. One of the obvious would be to send surprise gifts every now and then to him or her. The other way is to show your appreciation through your own actions - being accomodating, understanding and loving.

Using verbal ways, you can enhance the good relationship you already enjoy or improve on one that is shaky. Have a special phrase for your lady, such as:

"I really love the way your eyes light up in the candle light"
"Did anyone ever tell you that you are the sexiest most amazing woman in the world?"
"I'm so glad I've found you, you make me so happy."
"We fit perfectly into each other's arm."
"Our life is so perfect together."
"What can I do to make you happier today?"

Or, if you are a woman, have one for your man. For example:

"I love being with you. You make me feel secure"
"Do you know what I like about you most? I like the fact that you are you"
"I can't imagine life without you"
"Thanks for being my boyfriend/husband. I couldn't have made a better choice"
"You are my harbour in the choppy seas"
"I love the feel of you close to me"

I'm sure you'll be able to think of more catchy words for your lady or man. Just remember that the surest way to a person's heart is not just through food. Have fun!
