Question:
I am writing to you after visiting the weddingbell.com.my Website, and I wonder if you could advice me on how to register my marriage with my fiancé who is of French nationality.

I am Malaysian Chinese and have been resident in Malaysia for 27 years, except for 4 years from 1992-1996 where I left for England for undergraduate studies. My fiancé is French whom I knew in university, and has been working in Malaysia since October 1999. He has a work permit and visa from his company (local with MSC status) for 2 years.

We plan to get married in October 2000 in a local church, and would like to know what procedures there are to register our marriage here. We have already obtained the necessary information for registration of our marriage in France.

If possible I would also like to know how we can apply for PR status for him, or whether being married would affect his status anyway. His company is willing to assist in application for his PR status if necessary. Thank you for your help, best regards and God bless,
